Description
Summary:The Metropolitan Bandung Raya region is undergoing a complex rural-urban transformation, involving both physical changes from agricultural areas and social dimensions. Mekarmukti Village, located in West Bandung Regency, faces significant challenges in preparing for these changes, with many areas experiencing urbanization yet still being administratively classified as villages. It is crucial for the village to maintain its functions to ensure sustainable livelihoods, one way being through the implementation of the smart village concept, which leverages digital technology to enhance village resilience. However, this effort is often hindered by inadequate and unevenly distributed digital infrastructure. This research aims to identify the prospects for developing a digital smart village ecosystem to address rural-urban transformation in Mekarmukti Village. To achieve this goal, the conditions of the digital ecosystem in Mekarmukti Village were analyzed using qualitative analysis and gap analysis methods. The results of these analyses were then used to formulate strategies for digital ecosystem development. The rapid rural appraisal (RRA) approach was employed to quickly gather information on how rural resources are managed through techniques such as interviews, observations, and literature studies. The research findings indicate that while the government of Mekarmukti Village has begun to provide ICT infrastructure and digital services, their provision and management remain uneven. Additionally, the lack of clear policies and supportive networks has slowed the progress of digital ecosystem development. Therefore, strategies have been formulated focusing on enhancing technology infrastructure and digital services relevant to community needs, as well as establishing clear policies and management structures. It is hoped that the prospects for developing the digital ecosystem in Mekarmukti Village will increase, enabling the village to develop a robust smart village digital ecosystem to enhance village resilience in the face of rural-urban transformation.
