INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/81420 According to data from the World Bank (2022), the global population reached 3.03 billion in 1960. The population has continued to grow, experiencing an 11.3% increase over the last decade. Rapid population growth has led to increased demand for food and housing, often resulting in inflation. The decreasing availability of land due to population growth has also created issues related to housing affordability and the conversion of agricultural land. Without planned strategies to address these issues, there is a risk of insecurity in the food and housing sectors. Bandung City relies on food supplies from other regions. However, the Bandung City government has been proactive in implementing the Buruan Sae Program to address the city's food insecurity. Additionally, Bandung City also faces a housing backlog, with more than half of its population affected. The housing career trend outlines an individual's or household's journey towards independent homeownership, typically occurring between the ages of 21-30. Given the issues of food and housing insecurity in Bandung City and its existing potential, there is a need for affordable housing that also addresses food insecurity. The concept of permaculture, with its focus on a more human-centered agricultural ecosystem, holds potential for addressing both social and environmental issues. Through the permaculture design approach in architecture, housing design can be aligned with the development of urban farming spaces intended to meet the food and housing needs of families and communities. The design challenges relate to the goals and ethics of permaculture, including improvisation and education in cultivation, connectivity between living spaces and cultivation, and adaptable natural cultivation spaces. The proposed solution involves applying the 12 principles of permaculture design, elaborating on the criteria of reliability, connectivity, and adaptability. text
