Description
Summary:The designation of Bandung as both a "Creative City" and an "Educational City" is deeply interconnected. Bandung's recognition as a creative hub owes much to the potential of its younger generations and the abundance of creative communities they foster. Bandung boasts the highest number of higher education institutions in Indonesia, resulting in a substantial youth population. In today’s digital era, engaging in diverse activities in creative public spaces has become a hallmark of youth culture. One prominent creative space in Bandung is Bandung Creative Hub (BCH). However, several challenges have been identified in its implementation, such as a design that does not fully accommodate the patterns of creative practitioners, unclear area divisions, a lack of accommodation for various creative activities, an unengaging spatial experience, and insufficient adaptation to the lifestyle of the younger generation. Additionally, BCH's location at Laswi street is not easily accessible for youth who predominantly operate in the Dago area. The lack of an integrated creative space in the Dago area has driven youth to utilize public spaces like coffee shops, as evidenced by the proliferation of coffee shops in this vicinity. Although popular among the youth, coffee shops present several issues, including noise due to diverse visitor backgrounds, wasteful behavior, and limited space. The increasing number of coffee shops around higher education institutions underscores the need for a dedicated space to support youth activities. Addressing the lack of an integrated creative space to foster collaboration among the youth in the Dago area is imperative. In response, the idea of a Youth Collaboration Center has been proposed to enhance the creativity and productivity of the youth in the Dago area and to meet the spatial needs aligned with their habits and lifestyles. The Youth Collaboration Center will feature various functions, including creative spaces, spotlight spaces, and leisure spaces. The proposed development location is at Ir. H. Juanda street. The choice of location considers several factors: the prominent image of Dago, accessibility to the primary target users, ease of access, and land use zoning.
