THE INFLUENCE OF N-RECTANGULAR SUBMERGED BREAKWATER AND TRENCH CONFIGURATIONS ON WAVE ELEVATION

Studies related to wave transmission coefficients and resonance phenomena in observation domains consisting of a single submerged breakwater or rectangular trench have been widely conducted. However, there has not been any research that deeply examines both aspects in an observation domain combin...

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/81423 Studies related to wave transmission coefficients and resonance phenomena in observation domains consisting of a single submerged breakwater or rectangular trench have been widely conducted. However, there has not been any research that deeply examines both aspects in an observation domain combining submerged breakwater and trench. This is intriguing to study to understand its impact on wave propagation. In this final project, we use the Shallow Water Equations (SWE) to derive an analytical solution in the form of wave transmission coefficient (Kt) formulation and natural period (Tanalitik) in resonance phenomena. We then generalize this analytical solution to observation domains consisting of any n combinations of submerged breakwater and trench. Subsequently, we develop a numerical scheme to simulate wave propagation, compare the results with the analytical solution, and observe the occurring resonance phenomena. Furthermore, a clustering-based meta-heuristic optimization method is used to determine the optimal dimensions of the breakwater to minimize the transmission coefficient. This research is expected to contribute to the development of more advanced and efficient coastal defense system design methods in the future. text
