Tourism offers economic benefits but forces the Baduy community to choose between preserving their culture and adapting to modern needs, reflecting their struggle to maintain identity while facing an uncertain future of tradition versus change. The Baduy, a community that has successfully preserved its culture, now faces the dilemma of being designated as a sustainable tourism destination. Despite its potential to boost the creative economy, differing perceptions between the outside society and the Baduy themselves pose serious challenges. Introducing the village as a tourist spot can lead to cultural transformations that contradict the Baduy's principles of rejecting modernization. Violations of traditional rules by tourists, such as the use of technology and littering, cause discomfort among the Baduy. Additionally, their culture has already started to erode due to globalization. To address these issues, strict regulations are needed for empowering the Baduy community and establishing educational facilities, such as Visitor and Cultural Centers, focused on the preservation and promotion of Baduy culture. This approach aims to balance the enhancement of the creative economy with the preservation of local wisdom, maintaining harmony between the Baduy community, their environment, and tourists. If managed wisely, tourism in the Baduy Village can become a positive force promoting culture, sustainable environments, and community welfare. text |
