RIVERSCAPES CO-LIVING: AFFORDABLE COMMUNITY HOUSING ON THE CITARUM RIVERSIDE

Around Baleendah-Bojongsoang, Bandung, there are labor-intensive industrial areas, especially in the textile and garment sectors. However, until now there have been no adequate residential facilities to accommodate the workers and employees who work there. These workers generally have limited income, while land for housing is becoming scarcer and prices continue to soar. This condition has the potential to encourage the emergence of slums in inappropriate locations, such as on river side. This problem arises due to several factors besides economics, including the need for close access to work and transport. The riverside plays an important role as a buffer between the river and the land, protecting the natural function of the river from the disturbances of surrounding activities. However, the loss of riverside zones due to other land uses poses a serious threat of pollution to the river environment, which in turn threatens the safety, comfort, and health of people in the vicinity. This demonstrates the serious impact of losing the riverside zone on the river environment and its surroundings. This project aims to build a co-living facility for industrial workers in Baleendah-Bojongsoang with a rental system designed to meet the living needs of workers in the surrounding industries. The facility will be built in a strategic location that is easily accessible by public transport. Additionally, its location on the side of the Citarum River requires careful planning to ensure the sustainability of the surrounding nature. Through this project, it is hoped that a well-planned riverside residence can be created, which not only provides a decent place to live for the workers but also preserves the surrounding environment.
