PERSIB TRAINING CENTER: ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT AND INCREASING BOBOTOH’S SENSE OF COMMUNITY

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, including in Indonesia. Football competitions serve as a platform for clubs to showcase their reputation and achievements. Athlete development is crucial for any club and can be facilitated through training facilities. Not all football clubs in Indonesia have adequate training facilities, including Persib, which has struggled without a permanent training ground. Additionally, Persib boasts a large fan base in West Java known as Bobotoh, who play a vital role in the club's journey. Another critical element is the players themselves; their mentality is key to achieving success. Given Persib's large supporter base, a training center is necessary to elevate the club's professionalism and athlete development. This center aims to instill ownership among all club stakeholders, including players, officials, management, and Bobotoh, thereby boosting the club's competitiveness in each season to achieve optimal performance. The project site is located at Babakan Cimekar Street, Cibiru Hilir, Cileunyi, Bandung, West Java, spanning an area of 93,510 m2. The facility will accommodate various functions such as training, accommodation, health services, administration, and commercial activities. Design challenges in this project were athlete development and regeneration, creating representative building for Persib, maximizing supporter involvement, and fostering a restorative environment. To address these challenges, the design approach emphasizes a modern architectural style known for its functionality and simplicity. The design of the Persib Training Center aims to showcase a professional and modern club branding. The training center will serve as a hub for supporter activities, incorporating a sense of community and place into its design. Furthermore, biophilic design strategies will be employed to integrate a restorative environment and promote the mental health and well-being of players, ultimately enhancing team performance. Adherence to Active-Design Guidelines will also ensure that athletes’ performance and fitness are maintained and improved over time. As a facility integrated with commercial aspects, strategic design principles will define commercial functions and zoning to ensure their effectiveness and economic viability. In conclusion, Persib Training Center will cater to the needs of players, officials, management, and supporters alike, fostering a cohesive community spirit while supporting the club's competitiveness and achieving its highest sporting goals.
