ABSTRACT: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The use of drug in internal and pediatric inpatients for pneumonia patients at RSUP dr Hasan Sadikin Bandung had been studied concurrently from August 2000 to February 2001. The study of appropriateness of the drug use was based on the predetermined criteria. Result showed that pneumonia patients were complicated with other disease. Generally, pneumonia was caused by mixed of microbes, therefore therapy was empiric. The inappropriateness of the doses detected in pneumonia patients were 23 . cases including 0.83% overdoses and 0.76% subdoses. The drug use duplication was 0.96%, the drug use combination of antibacterials was 7.93% including the synergistic combination was 3.24%, the rational synergistic combination 2.76% and antagonistic combination 1.93%. The drug use combination of non antibacterials was 5.24% including rational synergistic combination was 1.31% and rational combination was 3.93%. In pneumonia patients, the pharmacodynamic and the pharmacokinetic interactions were 10.00% and 1.38%, and the insufficiency of antibacterials treatment were 6.48%.
