Summary: | Tourism is a potential sector that provides many benefits in various aspects but can
have negative impacts if not managed well. Sustainable tourism is one of the
tourism development concepts to create sustainable destinations that prioritize
local communities, are appropriate according to local culture, and are
environmentally friendly. Carrying capacity is also very important to prevent
tourism from occurring in tourist destinations so as to avoid negative impacts and
maintain continuity. Mutun Beach is one of the most popular and popular beaches
among tourists in Lampung Province because it has beautiful sea views with clean
beaches, white sand, and no big waves. However, in practice, the tourism potential
has not been fully managed well and there are still obstacles to developing tourism
in Lampung Province, including Mutun Beach. This research targets identifying the
carrying capacity of Mutun Beach tourism, socio-demographic characteristics and
travel patterns of tourists, conditions, and perceptions of tourists regarding tourism
components and principles of sustainable tourism, as well as developing a strategy
for developing sustainable tourism based on tourists' perceptions. The research
results show that the carrying capacity of Mutun Beach is greater than the actual
number of visits so it can be developed to increase the number of tourists. The
characteristics of tourists show that Mutun Beach is a beach visited by tourists from
different backgrounds. Mutun Beach has potential but requires hotel development,
accessibility, and services and facilities. Tourism development at Mutun Beach has
not been carried out optimally as indicated by the existence of tourism component
variables and sustainable tourism principles that have not been developed in tourist
destinations. Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) was used to develop a
strategy for developing tourism components and sustainable tourism principles at
Mutun Beach based on tourist perceptions and produced 13 variables on top
priorities. |
