Description
Summary:The NRW (Non-revenue water) rate in Indonesia based on the BUMD Performance Report 2023 is exceeding the national standard of 25%. A national water loss rate of 33.90% or 1.74 billion m3 translates to a potential revenue loss of Rp 9.75 trillion per year. NRW can be caused by commercial and physical losses. Commercial losses can be due to inaccurate customer water meters or incorrect meter readings. Physical water loss can occur during pipe installation work. When commercial water loss is identified and resolved, there will be an immediate increase in revenue based on water sales. Ultrasonic water meters have the advantages of high precision, low power consumption, and long service life, and can become an important candidate for the next generation of intelligent water meters. This research focuses on the power management and user interface aspects of the Ultrasonic-based Smart Water Meter. The power implementation is capable of lasting up to 2 months, thus not meeting the 5-year lifespan specification. However, the system meets specifications for storing customer water volume when disconnected from the power source. The implementation of the interface, which includes power indicators, user interaction on the display, and forced data send interaction, meets all Metrology Standards specifications. For future design, it is recommended to use only one microcontroller to achieve a battery lifespan of up to 5 years.
