Summary:The growth of Karawang Regency as a periurban area for the Jabodetabekpunjur and Bandung Raya metropolitan areas continues to increase the economic growth of Karawang Regency, which is currently undergoing transformation towards urban economic activities, in addition to its role as one of the largest rice barns in West Java Province. With a total Regional Domestic Product (RDP) of IDR 243.713.201.000.000 in 2021, dominated by the “processing industry (70.81%)” and followed by the “large and small-scale trading sector; motor vehicle and motorcycle repair services (9.73%”), the “retail or trading secto”r has the potential to continue growing and developing in Karawang Regency, marked by the emergence of new shopping centers with the concept of Outlet malls, such as The Grand Outlet - East Jakarta . As a new concept for a shopping center in Karawang Regency or Indonesia, the development process of an Outlet mall in Indonesia has gone through the process of Innovation Diffusion towards the modern retail market, so in this study, we will focus on identifying the factors and processes of innovation diffusion carried out by PT Karawang Outlet Mall as the manager of The Grand Outlet - East Jakarta , which will be identified through narrative research that emphasizes the provider's perspective on the retail needs in Indonesia, which will be explained using qualitative descriptive analysis methods, which is expected to become a development strategy in identifying the process of Innovation Diffusion for the development of shopping centers with other attractive concepts in Indonesia, both with Outlet mall concepts and other retail innovations.
