Summary: | Cirebon Kanoman Market is one of the traditional markets whose existence still
plays an active role in the lives of the people of Cirebon to this day. The lively
atmosphere of Cirebon Kanoman Market, which is rich in historical, social, and
cultural values, has the potential to be used as inspiration in developing one of
Cirebon City’s heritages, which is batik. The development of Cirebon’s batik
patterns is a form of effort that not only includes preserving tradition, but also
includes innovation by creating new, interesting, and relevant designs in the eyes
of consumers. This research aims to explore how the dynamic atmosphere of a
traditional market can become a local potential that can encourage creativity in
creating batik patterns that reflect the characteristics of the local area. The
research method involves field observation at the Kanoman Market in Cirebon,
analysis of batik patterns of Cirebon, as well as explorations of converting the
market life into batik patterns. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the
preservation of traditional markets in Cirebon, as well as contribute to the
preservation and development of Cirebon’s batik heritage. In addition, the results
of this research can provide a better understanding of how the influence of
traditional markets can be used as a source of inspiration in the field of creative
industries such as creating batik patterns that not only have high aesthetic value,
but also reflect the richness of local culture. It is also hoped that the results of this
research can support Cirebon’s batik industry in increasing its competitiveness in
local and global markets. |
