Description
Summary:This final project is focused on designing batik with the development of Mughal architectural decoration. Mughal architecture refers to the Indo-Islamic architectural style that developed during the reign of the Mughal empire. The Mughal era with its architectural heritage is a revival point of the Islamic architectural influence in the Indian subcontinent. Known for its ornamental characteristics made with high quality skill and aesthetic value, Mughal architectural ornaments are the main inspiration of this final project. Using batik technique, the visuals of Mughal architectural ornaments are adapted to suit the design principles of Nusantara batik. The purpose of the research and design of this final project is to develop the potential of batik decoration inspired by Mughal architectural ornaments, as well as to introduce the combination of Intangible Cultural Heritage with one of the Seven Wonders of the World's Heritage. Woven fabric as a medium for batik painting aims to increase the aesthetic value of the work and as a visual representation of the rich cultural background of Mughal architecture and Batik.
