Description
Summary:The textile industry remains one of Indonesia's leading industries, where textile production generates foreign exchange for the country. The production of textiles continues to increase each year, driven by the growing consumer demand for clothing and significant changes in fashion trends, leading to a predicted global increase of 5% annually until 2023. This increase in production is accompanied by an increase in the amount of textile waste generated. As a textile-producing country, Indonesian textile industry mainly produced post-production textile waste type, one of textile waste type are scraps of fabric from clothing cuttings, commonly known as "kain majun” in Indonesian. Discarding the scraps directly without proper treatment can be hazard for the surrounding environment and takes a long time to decompose naturally. To resolve the issue, the fabric scraps can be reused by processing it into materials that can be used again for a long time. The development of fabric scraps processing uses a qualitative method combined with quantitative data to support the research. The result of research is expected forfurther exploration of fabric scraps material, especially the scraps made from cotton fabric, to be a new step in processing materials into useful and implement a sustainable system in the progress.
