Summary: | Transportation plays a crucial role in community mobility. However, various
transportation problems, such as congestion and low public interest in public
transport, can hinder the movement and activities of the community. To address
transportation problems in Palembang, the local government has developed an
intermodal integration system with LRT as the central mode. Additionally,
Palembang has become a pioneer in intermodal integration development in
Indonesia. This study aims to identify the condition of physical intermodal
transportation integration on LRT in Palembang City. The study consists of
analyzation of the coverage area based on the intermodal integration of the LRT
line with the routes of share taxis, BRT, and LRT feeders, as well as analyzation of
the walkability level of pedestrian infrastructure around Demang Station. The
analysis techniques used are spatial, qualitative, and quantitative analyses. The
coverage area analysis was conducted through buffer analysis with a 400-meter
radius as an assumed distance of a five-minute walk. The analysis of the walkability
level was conducted through assessments at 33 road segments around the station
based on nine modified GWI parameters. The results show that the service coverage
from the intermodal integration of LRT with other modes is still limited to
supporting community accessibility. There are still subdistricts and residential
areas in each subdistrict that are not yet covered. The LRT feeder service coverage
is also not extensive enough. The broadest service coverage is from the intermodal
integration of the LRT line with share taxis routes. As a result of the walkability
analysis around Demang Station, most road segments are highly walkable.
According to the average score calculation of all segments, pedestrian
infrastructure is also highly walkable, making it safe and comfortable for LRT users
to transfer modes to/from Demang Station on foot. However, improvements in the
condition and availability of disability-friendly infrastructure and amenities are
needed. |
