SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS USING ROCK MASS CLASSIFICATION AND LIMIT EQUILIBRIUM METHODS AT JALAN SELAT LAMPA-SEKUNYAM, NATUNA REGENCY, KEPULAUAN RIAU

The roadway connecting Selat Lampa-Sekunyam, Natuna Regency, was built through steep mountain slopes. The research was located at one of the road sections having latitude 108° 9' 16.25“N and longitude 3° 37' 53.57”E. The purpose of this research is to analyze rock slope stability using the...

The research was located at one of the road sections having latitude 108° 9' 16.25“N and longitude 3° 37' 53.57”E. The purpose of this research is to analyze rock slope stability using the Rock Mass Rating (RMR), kinematic analysis, Slope Mass Rating (SMR), and limit equilibrium methods. Based on three analysed locations (NA-01 to NA-03), the slope is made of flint which has natural density ranged from 2.492 gr/cm3 to 2.629 gr/cm3 and uniaxial compressive strength ranged from 51.662 MPa to 104.346 MPa. Based on the RMR analysis shows that the three research locations classified to class II (Good Rock). The results of kinematic analysis show that the highest probability of landslide on slope NA-01 was wedge, NA-02 was direct toppling, and NA-03 was oblique toppling. The results of calculations using the SMR method show that the three slopes classified to class II, have 20% probability of failure with suggested supports using spot or systematic bolts. Limit equilibrium analysis was conducted on two potential wedge failure locations (Baji 1 and Baji 2), and one location with toppling failure potential. The results of the limit equilibrium analysis show that Baji 1 has a safety factor of 1.80, Baji 2 has a safety factor of 1.34, and the toppling failure has a safety factor of 1.26. The three values indicate that the slope is in a stable condition because it has a FK value above the critical limit (FK = 1). text
