Description
Summary:Table arrangement and food presentation play an important role in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for dining. This concept gave rise to the "tablescaping" trend, which is the art of arranging a table with the aim of conveying a certain theme, atmosphere or experience. Additionally, Japanese pop culture, such as manga and anime, have become increasingly popular worldwide for its rich narratives and compelling visuals. One manga that particularly stands out in this regard is "Delicious in Dungeon" by Ryoko Kui. The worldbuilding in “Delicious in Dungeon” provides an interesting foundation for designing monsters and characters within its story. The diverse shapes, forms and attributes of both monsters and characters in this manga serve as inspiration for creating patterns for tablescaping products. By incorporating visual and conceptual elements from the manga, the interior textile products designed can offer an enjoyable dining experience. This research can also provide further understanding of how popular culture can be integrated into everyday activities like dining, to create a more special and memorable experience. The design process involves visual analysis of characters, visual exploration, exploration of surface design techniques, mainly printing and embroidery, culminating in pattern development. The result of this research is a collection of table linen products including tablecloth, placemats, coasters and seat cushions.
