Description
Summary:Western interior design themes and concepts have undoubtedly dominated the taste for spatial planning in many business places in Indonesia, thus drowning out Indonesia’s identity as a homeland that is diverse in its indigenous culture. One solution that can be taken to prevent cultural fading in a place due to the impact of the rapid flow of globalization is to incorporate elements of local culture into external influences that come in subtly, and vice versa. Research in the form of this final project aims to provide exposure to local Indonesian content in a face adapted to modern tastes, focusing on inserting science fiction touch, namely steampunk retrofuturism, into the ancient image of wayang which is the most popular Indonesian cultural product through the medium of interior crafts, using the material of coconut fiber as it is one of the most widely produced textile commodities in Indonesia.
