Description
Summary:Crochet has long been one of the textiles making methods that draws attention due to its flexibility in implementing decorative elements while making textile works. By natural or synthetic fiber-based yarns, crochet allows for the creation of various patterns and textures. The surface texture and interwoven spaces between the strands give potential for crochet to be developed as a printing tool. This research aims to develop crochet as an alternative printmaking tool using cyanotype, an alternative photography technique that utilizes ultraviolet light, either from the sun or uv lamp. Through the exploration of using cyanotype as an image printing tool, patterns and motives from crochet silhouettes can be applied onto fabric. The application of the prints was developed into a collection of fabrics, like batik in general, which can be applied into fashion products and interior products. Thus, this research is expected to contribute to the development of innovative and creative pattern printing techniques, one of which uses a combination of crochet and cyanotype techniques.
