Summary: | This research aims to explore the potential of orange peels and pineapple leaf fiber waste as raw
materials for sustainable textile materials. By utilizing these organic wastes, the study seeks to produce
eco-friendly composite materials as an alternative for the textile industry. Through composite
techniques, this study focuses on the use of bioplastic-based materials to promote a shift towards a
more environmentally friendly fashion industry. The main objective is to investigate the use of
biofabrication techniques in the production of bioplastic-based materials and to identify alternative
materials for a more sustainable textile industry. This research has the potential to make a significant
contribution to the development of sustainable textile materials, helping to reduce the environmental
impact of the textile industry Data collection methods include literature studies, observations, and
exploratory material experiments. The materials used are natural fibers from pineapple leaf fiber waste
and orange peels processed using the hand lay-up composite technique. The manufacturing process is
simple, involving a mixture of agar, gelatin, glycerin, and orange peel extract to achieve material
blending. The research problem centers on how the hand lay-up composite technique can produce
sustainable materials and how materials from orange peels and pineapple leaf fiber waste can be
explored. The exploration results show the integration of design, technology, and nature, offering
alternative fabrics for the textile craft industry, although further exploration is still needed for these
materials. The final products are fabric and bags to demonstrate that these materials can serve as fabric
alternatives and can be made into functional products like bags. The experiment produced "Retikulata"
fabric and bags with a concept of integrating design, nature, and technology.
