The best current training medium, namely cadavers, still cannot simulate conditions as realistically as possible due to factors such as decomposition, among others. Additionally, the evaluation of anastomosis training procedures is often carried out using qualitative methods, which is not ideal as it relies on the subjectivity of the evaluator. Therefore, this project has developed a medical phantom training medium for vascular anastomosis that not only simulates conditions as closely as possible to the surgical environment but also provides quantitative evaluation of the training outcomes. This is done by flowing a blood substitute fluid with a flow rate that closely matches the flow in one of the human brain arteries, specifically the Middle Cerebral Artery Distal, where the flow ranges from 28-52 mL/min. Additionally, this medical phantom can evaluate the severity of narrowing that occurs in the blood vessel model due to the anastomosis suturing performed by the user. This is done by measuring the flow rate in the blood vessel model where the procedure is performed, as any narrowing will result in a decrease in flow rate compared to the flow when there is no narrowing. The sensor used to measure the blood flow can measure flows in the range of 0-52 mL/min.. text |
