DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF MEDICAL PHANTOM PLATFORM FOR VASCULAR ANASTOMOSIS WITH FORCE SENSING AND VIDEO DOCUMENTATION SYSTEM

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/82362 In Indonesia medical field, training media for vascular anastomosis is still unable to resemble actual conditions such as conditions during surgery. In fact, the training media that has the best level of similarity, namely cadavers, still cannot simulate well due to several factors such as decay of cadavers. In addition, the methods used to evaluate the results of training actions are often done with qualitative methods that are subjective which makes the assessments not ideal. Therefore, in this final project, a training media for vascular anastomosis has been created with a vessel model that is made as similar as possible to the actual conditions and is equipped with features that can provide a quantitative evaluation of the results of the actions performed. Yet, another problem still occurs. It is undeniable that in performing vascular anastomosis, relying on the suturing instincts obtained during training is necessary. However, relying on instinct alone is not enough because it is subjective and ineffective as the knowledge and skills possessed by specialists cannot be passed on directly to their potential successors. Thus, there is a need to measure the suturing force exerted during the action as a quantitative evaluation. This solution would make the training effective for trainees to understand the level of suturing force allowed and can develop instincts to resemble specialists. As an additional evaluation material, this training media will also provide video documentation which is used to document the actions taken by the trainees and can be watched again later on whether the actions taken are correct or wrong. Of course, a platform is also needed to perform this anastomosis action, hence a platform for performing anastomosis actions is also designed to be as similar as possible to the actual situation with the comfort of its users guaranteed. text
