Summary: | Characteristics of Cirebon Waters such as temperature, salinity, density, dissolved
oxygen, pH, chlorophyll-a, turbidity, and currents in Cirebon Waters are seawater
properties whose distribution is related to seasonal patterns. The purpose of this study
was to analyze the differences in water characteristics between the east and west
seasons, and determine the relationship with fisheries catches in Cirebon Waters. The
data used in this study were in situ measurement data in the east season (July 2022)
and west season (February 2024), while fisheries catch data were obtained from the
Cirebon Regency Fisheries and Marine Service in July 2022 and February 2024. Water
characteristics data were analyzed using EDA (Exploratory Data Analysis) and PCA
(Principal Component Analysis) methods, while fisheries data were analyzed using
EDA and CA (Correspondence Analysis) methods. The results showed that the values
of salinity, density, and turbidity at the surface was higher in the east season and the
values of temperature, pH, chlorophyll-a, dissolved oxygen and current was higher in
the west season. In the east season, the highest fish catch was peperek topang
(Leiognathus equulus) at 296,880 tons and in the west season, the highest fish catch
was crab (Portunus pelagicus) at 396,772 tons. These catches are associated with the
characteristics of Cirebon Waters, especially chlorophyll-a diversity, salinity, and
currents. |
