Description
Summary:Climate change has had a significant impact on the agricultural sector, particularly in chili pepper farming. The increase in average temperature, unpredictable rainfall intensity, and shifting rainy seasons have led to uncertainties in weather prediction, making it difficult for farmers to determine the optimal planting, maintenance, and harvesting times for chili peppers. The most crucial factor in chili pepper farming is soil moisture. Turgor cells in chili pepper plants will shrink when soil moisture is too low. However, high soil moisture can cause anaerobic respiration in chili pepper plants, producing alcohol that can kill the plant roots. Therefore, a system is needed to maintain soil moisture so that chili pepper plants can grow well. To address this issue, an irrigation system integrated with a weather monitoring system has been developed to obtain soil moisture data. The system reads soil moisture and determines whether irrigation is needed for the plants in the agricultural field through a valve, either automatically based on a predetermined schedule or manually. The valve is also connected to a flow meter that can measure the volume of irrigation regularly, ensuring that the required amount of water does not exceed the specified limit. Additionally, the system is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor to measure the availability of water in a storage tank. The results of this final project show that the system works well. The system can control the valve to provide irrigation automatically through schedule and duration inputs, or manually through a button. The system can also accurately detect water availability in the tank and measure the volume of water flowing through the valve.
