Determining the optimal tuning parameters for the PSS is crucial to ensure it provides good performance across all modes during disturbances. This thesis aims to design the use of a Genetic Algorithm (GA) in MATLAB as a method to optimize the PSS2B parameters. The optimal tuning parameters for the PSS are obtained by exchanging eigenvalue data and frequency responses from the generator, which are then processed using GA with the aid of the Optimization Toolbox in MATLAB. This optimization is performed to achieve optimal parameter values that meet standards set by WECC, the Indonesian Grid Code, and IEEE 4215-2016 standards for excitation systems. In this thesis, the optimization design for the PSS includes the gain, washout time constant, and time constants of the Lead-Lag Compensator block. The results from the optimization using various approaches indicate that PSS tuning simulation using GA in MATLAB can yield optimal PSS parameters that comply with the established standards.. text |
