Description
Summary:The rapid development of technology in this day and age cannot be separated from internet connectivity. Internet connectivity continues to develop to meet human needs. One of the developments is the fifth generation (5G) mobile network technology which has a number of features and capabilities that can accelerate and improve various aspects of modern technology. This technology needs to be tested and developed through testbeds before it is widely implemented in commercial networks. Tests conducted for 5G technology development include infrastructure safety and security testing and network optimisation. In this project, 5G testbed development is carried out with open source components, a method of testing 5G connectivity using core network projects that can be accessed publicly. One of the 5G open source components that can be used is Open5GS. 5G testbed development using Open5GS allows users to experiment and test 5G technologies and applications in a controlled environment. Currently, 5G testbed development often involves the use of commercial and proprietary solutions that are usually expensive and only available to a limited circle. By involving the utilisation of Open5GS technology, a 5G testbed can be created that is flexible, cost-effective, and suited to more specific research needs. Researchers, academics, and mobile companies working on 5G-related projects can benefit from the development of this testbed. There are technical challenges and the need for certain skills to develop a 5G testbed. However, the benefits are enormous including cost savings, greater flexibility, and the potential for groundbreaking discoveries and innovations in 5G technology.
