Summary: | The presence of various limitations has led small and medium-sized contractor
companies to measure performance solely based on their financial conditions, or
in some cases, not to measure their performance at all. Additionally, there is no
performance measurement system guideline available for small and medium-sized
contractor companies, unlike those used by large contractor companies. The
objective of this research is to determine the key performance indicators using the
balanced scorecard approach, which can be utilized to measure the performance
of small and medium-sized contractor companies through comparative testing,
validity testing, statistical analysis (mean, standard deviation, and coefficient of
variation), and the relative importance index (RII). The subjects of this research
are small and medium-sized contractor companies in the city of Bandung, which
were asked to assess the relevance of performance indicator variables using a
questionnaire. Data processing results indicated that 57.14% of the 35 variables,
or 20 performance indicators, were considered relevant to small and medium-sized
contractor companies. Based on the RII method, 20 key performance indicators
were identified for measuring the performance of small and medium-sized
contractors: service quality, customer retention, company image, project value,
timeliness of project completion, number of projects, compliance with guidelines or
regulations, number of new customers, employee productivity, current ratio, social
contribution, customer satisfaction, knowledge sharing, domestic revenue growth,
return on equity, net worth, return on invested capital, domestic market share,
number of suggestions, and research and development costs. These key
performance indicators can be considered by small and medium-sized contractors
for measuring their company's performance. This research serves as a preliminary
step for further studies in developing a performance measurement system for small
and medium-sized contractors. |
