Automation and technology have indeed started to be adopted, but they have not yet been widely implemented. Therefore, the success of a construction project depends on the human resources who directly execute the work on-site. Each worker and helper is led by a foreman; thus, the key to the success of a construction project is also determined by the success of the foreman in carrying out their roles and responsibilities. This study aims to analyze the current role of foremen compared to studies from a dozen years ago, which may be questioned for their relevance to current conditions. The research method involved distributing questionnaires to large qualification contractors in Bandung City and conducting direct interviews with several foremen to understand their current roles. The main findings indicate that the role of foremen is still relevant today, but foremen now act more as entrepreneurs or individual companies, although they are not yet legally established and their financial conditions are still limited. Additionally, today's foremen have better competencies compared to a dozen years ago due to the more competitive market demands and the impact of skill training for some construction foremen. text |
