Description
Summary:Waste management presents a significant urban challenge that is hard to overcome. To mitigate the effects of inadequate waste management, the implementation of a circular economy can serve as an effective solution, particularly in developing countries with potential for economic growth through creative villages (Creative Kampong). This study aims to support the sustainability of the knitting industry center in Creative Kampong Binong Jati by minimizing waste problems through the application of circular economy concepts. Issues such as the overloaded Sarimukti landfill exacerbate waste accumulation in urban areas, negatively impacting the environment and community well-being in Bandung, which also affects Creative Kampong Binong Jati. This research explores the application of the circular economy to enhance the sustainability of Creative Kampong Binong Jati. Utilizing a qualitative method and the 9R strategy to measure the level of circular economy implementation, alongside environmental indicators to assess sustainability, the study finds that the implementation of circular economy solutions has reached the highest level of the 9R strategy, although further improvements in implementation and community knowledge are needed. Most environmental indicators have been met, indicating overall environmental sustainability of the village. Recommendations include increasing waste collection frequency, raising community awareness about waste management, more routine socialization of the Kang Pisman (Reduce, Separate, Utilize) program, and expanding the maggot cultivation program. Implementing these recommendations is expected to comprehensively support the sustainability of Creative Kampong Binong Jati.
