Description
Summary:Energy gel is an orally administered sport nutritious preparation designed to im[rove energy level, speed recovery, dan reduce post-sport muscle pain. Energy gel usually contains macronutriens (carbohydrates, fats, and proteins) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants). Turmeric and cinnamon are known improve sport perfomance, prevent injuries and improve post-exercise recovery. Piperine found in black pepper is known to increase oral bioavability of the curcumin. In this study energy gel formulated into nanoemulgel that contain carbohydrates (maltodextrine and fructose), turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper extrac. The optimum formula was obtained with a particle globul size of 134,4 ± 4,07 nm. The preparation was tested in vivo to determine its effect on the swimming performance of male Swiss Webster mice. In this study, mice were divided into 5 groups, namely negative control (KN), emulgel group (KE), nanoemulgel group dose 1 (KD1), dose 2 (KD2), and dose 3 (KD3). The dosage form was administered for 7 consecutive days, and the test was carried out on days 1, 4, and 7. The test group given the nanoemulgel preparation (KD1, KD2, and KD3) showed a longer swimming duration than KN and KE (p<0.05). Giving the nanoemulgel preparation for 7 days provided a significant difference in swimming duration when compared with days 1 and 4 of giving the preparation. This showed that administering nanoemulgel preparations for 7 consecutive days can improve optimal sports performance. ?
