Description
Summary:The world is experiencing global warming, which has led to water crisis in various parts of the world. Shower is a basic necessity for humans to clean their bodies from dirt. However, if there is water crisis, shower will certainly be a problem due to the difficulty of water access. The purpose of this research was to create a no-rinse body wash preparation that is expected to clean the body without water rinsing. The active ingredient, chamomile, was first determined for its content before used in the formulation. The test results showed that the active ingredient contained several compounds that have pharmacological activities such as alpha-pinene, citral, linalool, and senkyunolide. The formulation was optimized using the Box-Behnken method, after which each formula was tested to determine the optimal preparation based on the best cleaning power using a sebumeter. The formula used consisted of coco glucoside, cocamidopropyl betaine, aloe gel, chamomile essential oil, rose essential oil, glycerin, and distilled water with certain ingredients were varied based on the Box Behnken approach. The preparations were evaluated included organoleptic tests, pH, specific gravity, foam stability, antibacterial activity, and stability tests. F8 is the optimal preparation with a composition of coco glucoside 6%, CPB 2%, aloe gel 5%, glycerin 10%, chamomile essential oil 0.5% that’s showed the best cleaning power and met all acceptance criteria. The preparation is able to clean dirt and is stable, but it does not have antibacterial activity, especially against gram-negative bacteria.
