Summary:Bridges are one of the infrastructures that has an important role in accommodating mobilization of a person from one area to another. Considering that Indonesia is a country with a high seismic activity, bridges in Indonesia must be designed in such a way that they can withstand earthquake loads. Moreover, along with developments in technology and science, the guideline standards regarding earthquake loads on bridges continue to be updated, this has resulted in the need to evaluate older bridge structures, to determine the bridge's resistance to existing earthquake loads. In Jakarta, exist 30-year-old elevated bridges, built in 1992, the bridges is still in used for today transportation. A seismic evaluation will be performed on one of the parts of the elevated bridges using capacity spectrum method based on Federal Highway Association (FHWA) publication, after which a retrofit planning will be carried out to determine changes in the bridge's response. Retrofit planning is set to modify the structural response by replacing existing bearings with Lead Rubber Bearings (LRB). This final project hypothesizes that there will be damage to the existing bridge if it’s exposed to an earthquake load with a return period of 1000 years, so that retrofit planning is projected to be able to minimize the damage that occurs in this condition.
