Description
Summary:Compartmental epidemiological models are mathematical approaches used to model the dynamic of epidemic diseases spread. Compartmental epidemiological models applied in this thesis are the SIR (Suscepted - Infected - Removed) and SIRD (Suscepted - Infected - Recovered - Death) models. This thesis aims to determine the premium and reserve funds in disease insurance using these compartmental epidemiological models. Parameters in the SIR and SIRD models will be estimated using assumption-based approaches and optimization with genetic algorithms. Once the model parameters are estimated, the model will be used to predict the spread of the disease so that the premium and reserve funds for disease insurance can be calculated through an actuarial approach. This research are expected to contribute to the determination of accurate premiums and the adequate planning of reserve funds for disease insurance.
