However, many jobs within the company require workers to maintain awkward postures, leading to a high prevalence of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) among workers, particularly in the painting subdivision. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the exposure to ergonomic risk factors in MRO work in the painting subdivision and to design ergonomic control to reduce ergonomic risks in aircraft MRO work at PT X. This study uses the Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) 9011:2021 as a reference for surveying MSD complaints among workers in the painting subdivision and to identify jobs with the highest ergonomic risk. Based on this survey, sanding is identified as the job that expose ergonomic risk factors to complainted body parts. Further evaluation was then conducted using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) to identify critical activities (highest risk) in the sanding job. The results of this evaluation show that the activities of paint removal under the aircraft using a sander and prying off residual paint stains using pry tools under the aircraft have the maximum RULA score of 7. Upper arms, lower arms, wrists, neck, and trunk are body parts with ergonomic risk in these two critical activities. Ergonomic interventions in the form of engineering controls were designed to reduce ergonomic risks in these two critical activities in the sanding job. The SCAMPER tool was used in designing the support device/equipment for these two critical activities. This study produced designs for body support device, modified of random orbital sander, and modified pry tool. The use of these support device/equipment in the two critical activities can reduce the ergonomic risk, lowering the RULA score from 7 to 3. text
