Pipeline systems remain the most efficient main system for the transmission and distribution of these resources. However, the pipeline routes often have to cross highways, railways, rivers, and other obstacles. Therefore, special methods are needed for pipeline installation under such conditions. There are three types of pipeline installation methods: open cut, auger boring, and horizontal directional drilling (HDD). Before pipeline installation is carried out, stress and load analysis on the pipe is conducted according to documents such as API RP 1102 and PRCI to ensure the safety of the pipe during operation. One example is the case study in this undergraduate thesis, which involves the installation of a gas pipeline using HDD, auger boring, and open cut methods in the Cirebon Lohbener section. Additionally, stress analysis modeling is performed during the pipeline installation stage using the HDD method with Ansys software. Based on the stress analysis results, the combined stress occurring in the pipeline installation with the HDD method still meets the stress criteria limit of 222.78 MPa. Therefore, the gas pipeline installation design using API 5L X52 with a thickness of 9.53 mm is acceptable, and the pipeline installation process can proceed. text
