SYNTHESIS OF SILICA MODIFIED BY N-[3- (TRIMETHOXYSILYL)PROPYL]ETHYLENEDIAMINE AS HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY COLUMN FILLER MATERIAL

Propylamine silica particles are often used in chromatography columns for sugar analysis. In this study, a silica column filler material with two amine groups was synthesized. The precursors used were tetraethylorotosilicate (lEOS) and N-[3- (Trimethoxysilyl)Propyl] Ethylenediamine (N-T...

The modified silica was then packed onto a HPLC column with a size of 4.6 x 50 mm and the column performance was tested using a HPLC equipped with an RI detector (Reflective Index Detector) for sugar samples. Column performance testing was carried out with a variation of Acetonitrile:Water eluent ratio at a flow rate of 0.5 and 1mL/min showed that the column was not able to separate the sugar mixture text
