Description
Summary:The thesis established a model of variability of travel time on signalized road links in Bandung. The model included important variables : length and width of link, traffic flow and traffic signal settings. These variabLes were represented in the model by average Link speed, flow, standard deviation of signal time delay and average signal stopped time delay. The equation for flow/sat.flow = 0.16 to 0.49 was: C.V. = 0.731 . a(?1.70 - 26.61 VS) 3600 L d(71.70 _ 26.61 Vs) The equation for flow/sat.flow = 0.53 to 0.74 was : 0.731 . d (61.10 - 53.80 b./s) C.V.= 3600 L + a (61.10 - :3-80 @/s) The model assumed steady conditions, in which traffic flow varied randomly about a constant mean, and link travel time variability was small in comparison to the variability caused by traffic signal. After calibration for conditions in Bandung, the model was tested against field data and showed generally good results. The results tended to be better when the flow was not disturbed by stopping, parking and access roads. The results were also generally better when the flow of traffic was fairly high. Future extensions ofthis work might be used to establish measures of reliabiLity within a whole urban street
