Local culture as the identity of a region has great urgency to be preserved. Preservation efforts are influenced by public interest in the culture. Batik as an ancestral heritage that has become the face of Pekalongan provides great opportunities as well as problems that need attention. Public interest in batik will certainly fade if the local community does not maintain it. In addition, there is a lack of cultural tourism to support information about local culture for Pekalongan Regency residents. This condition can reduce public interest in batik and Pekalongan's local culture, especially for district residents. The urgency of preserving batik and local culture is a great opportunity to introduce local culture so that it is more attached to the community and has a wider reach for the outside community. Pekalongan Regency does not yet have a cultural facility that accommodates all sectors in terms of commerce, education, and production. Therefore, the design of this batik innovation center facility is aimed at fostering the people of Pekalongan Regency to get to know local culture by combining culture and innovation, providing a place for education, and recreation with workshops, commercial activities, and collaboration. The combination of several facilities is also a trigger for the utilization of the potential of batik and local culture in increasing the creative industry and can support annual tourist visits to Pekalongan Regency. The author conducts a study of the batik innovation center in terms of facility needs, activities, and space criteria to produce a batik center that can meet the main objectives of the design in maintaining the sustainability of batik and Pekalongan's local culture.
