Summary:Air vehicles are particularly suitable for express deliveries or pick-ups on short routes. Helicopters with a UAV control could be the answer for delivering logistics in limited access areas such as Papua with a topography that is hard to access. UAV could reduce the possibility of casualties because with a UAV the control is autonomous with a computer without a pilot like a regular aircraft. This study aims to design the helicopter structure and determine the tube sizing used as the material of the helicopter structure. This research will be divided into three main parts, namely the helicopter body, helicopter tail, and helicopter legs where each design of the three main parts will be analyzed based on the safety factor and stress. The results of the study show that in the initial design of the helicopter body, the safety factor value is below 1.5 so it is necessary to reinforce the design. The results of the reinforcement carried out resulted in a safety factor value above 1.5, so that the reinforced design of the helicopter body was accepted. In the tail of the helicopter, the analysis was reviewed in 2 conditions, namely normal conditions and 1/12 MTOW. All analysis results on the tail of the helicopter also produced a safety factor value above 1.5, so that the reinforced helicopter design was accepted. Then on the helicopter legs, the AISI 4130 material cannot be used because the safety factor value is too small, so it is replaced with carbon fiber or Kevlar. In this design, High Strength Steel AISI 4130 will be used as the material that makes up the frame with a material diameter of 0.5 inches (12.7 mm) and a schedule of 40 (4 mm).
