These sacred space have special rules that must be obeyed by everyone, both the Torajan indigenous people and foreigners who come to visit. However, tourists do not know this because there is no clear boundary marker between sacred and profane spaces. This is the issue of this research. This research aims to identify, determine and reveal the concept of sacred-profane space hierarchy in the celebration of rambu solo’ traditional ceremony in the settlement of Ke’te’ Kesu’ and Belu indigenous people. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method base on Mircea Eliade’s sacred and profane space theory and Norberg-Schulz’s spirit pf place theory. The result showed that there are four type of space in Ke’te’ Kesu’ and Belu settlement, among others: profane space, sacred place, sacred space and axis mundi. The four type of space differ based on the nature of the activities that take place in them. In addition, the four types of space are found in two different areas. These four type of space form the hierarchy of sacred-profane space in the Ke’te’ Kesu’ and Belu indigenous settlements. text
