Summary: | Garut City is a part of urban area in Kabupaten Garut, West Java, which consists
of several districts. The area divisions are made base on their area
characteristics. People get their clean water supply individually from both dug
well and PDAM Kabupaten Garut that consists of several branches and uses
spring and river water. Three main districts in Garut City are Kecamatan Garut
Kota, Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler, and Kecamatan Tarogong Kidul. Kecamatan
Garut Kota is recognized either as trade and service center or resident area with
total area of 27,71 kilometer square. Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler and Kecamatan
Tarogong Kidul have functions as kabupaten government, travel, and resident
area with total area of 55,454 km2. In these three districts, PDAM Kabupaten
Garut Cabang Garut Kota fulfills their clean water supply from Jamban Wetan
and Jamban Kulon spring water whose production capacity is 170 L/second.
According to the record, PDAM has capability to serve water demand until year
2007 in Kecamatan Garut Kota, Kecamatan Tarogong Kaler, and Kecamatan
Tarogong Kidul up to 32,49% of 297.215 total citizens. Water demand will
increase as citizen and city growth increase. Existing treatment plant will not be
able to serve the demand in ???????????????????????????????????? time. Therefore, a plant to complement the
demand is needed to be built in the future. This drink water treatment plant is
designed for 20 years (2008 - 2028) in two planning steps. Treatment flow is
planned about 212 L/second in Step I with equal treatment capacity amount added
in Step II so that the total flow treated until end of period is 424 L/second.
Cimanuk River is chosen as the raw water source in this drink water treatment
plant since its location has closest distance with plant site plan, which is located
next to existing plant site, and the quantity can fulfill future water demand.
According to laboratory analysis results, some water quality parameters in
Cimanuk River have not met water quality standard, that are turbidity, color,
iron, manganese, and total coli. Based on those analysis results, treatment units
chosen in this plant design are intake, retention basin, pre-chlorination,
coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and reservoir. This plant will
also be utilized by several supporting buildings which are chemical feeder
building, water tower, sludge treatment unit, and office building. |
