Description
Summary:The elderly population in Indonesia is increasing. Currently, Yogyakarta holds the highest ranking with the largest elderly population in Indonesia. Unfortunately, in Indonesia itself, there is still minimal attention to the elderly, especially in terms of interior design, which often makes the elderly struggle to remain active amidst changes in various aspects that occur to them. There are also many unpleasant assumptions about the conditions of being an elderly person. In fact, the elderly have the right to live a quality life in their old age. The elderly also still have the potential to remain productive and active like when they were young. This fact can be an opportunity to create a demographic bonus in Indonesia if the elderly in Indonesia can be empowered properly. Therefore, a senior center facility will be created with an active-aging approach. This is also in line with the efforts of the Yogyakarta government itself to increase life expectancy in Yogyakarta. The research methods used in this design are in the form of literature studies, field observations, and interviews with related parties. These data will later help realize an appropriate design. It is hoped that the design with an active-aging approach that will focus on optimizing the environment in terms of physical health, mental health, and the participation of the elderly themselves will help the elderly live a quality life which will certainly have an impact on the life expectancy of the elderly in Yogyakarta.
