Description
Summary:Children's potential should be nurtured from the early years of their lives, especially in the first six years of life, known as the golden age, a period of rapid child development. Parents, as a child's first source of education, play a very important role in a child's development. However, over time, external factors such as urbanization and globalization have affected parenting patterns. In this digital era, many parents in Indonesia have yet to realize the importance of active involvement in their children's development and proper parenting. One of the impacts is that more and more Indonesian children are addicted to gadgets and have inactive lifestyles that negatively affect children's development. Sukasari Sub-district in Bandung is a heavily populated area with minimal play space for children. This lack of play space results in a lack of opportunities for children to engage in play activities, which are essential to support holistic child development. Therefore, this educational recreational facility is designed with a socio-cultural approach to optimize parental involvement in children's development through play activities. Hopefully, this design can influence parenting in the family through recreational activities. To collect the data needed in the design, the research was conducted using qualitative methods, including literature studies, field observations, surveys, and direct interviews with parties related to child development in Bandung City. The designed facility has a play area as the main area. The area is designed with the design concept of "Playful Growth". This design concept is applied to create an environment that encourages visitors to play interactively and improves the quality of interaction between parents and children.
