Description
Summary:The city of Surakarta is a city that upholds Javanese culture as its identity. The city of Surakarta has a slogan, namely "Solo The Spirit of Java" which means that the city of Surakarta is known as the center of Javanese cultural development. However, this slogan is still not felt by the public due to the lack of intensity in consistently implementing this slogan. For example, public buildings which focus more on modern concepts with minimal local wisdom mean that an area does not have its own identity. Meanwhile, public buildings have an important role in passive cultural preservation to preserve local wisdom. Solo Balapan Station is one of the public buildings that opens the gate for the public to get to know the city of Surakarta. After various service improvements and renovations, the interior of Solo Balapan Station has not yet optimally responded to cultural heritage buildings to preserve and introduce the public to the culture of the city of Surakarta. The design of Solo Balapan Station will become one of the centers for spreading the culture of Surakarta City by prioritizing user comfort in carrying out their activities. The design focuses on Javanese culture in the City of Surakarta with an emphasis on passive education so that the culture of the City of Surakarta can be intensively recognized and preserved by the people of Surakarta City and foreign communities. The design of Solo Balapan Station will highlight the concept of 'Gateway to Javanese Treasure' by making Solo Balapan Station an access to all of Surakarta's culture.
