Description
Summary:Telkom Corporate University is a functional unit established by PT Telkom, focusing on three main pillars: research, innovation, and learning for PT Telkom. The research and innovation pillar is managed by the Research and Innovation Management (RIM) unit. The RIM unit faces various challenges in fulfilling its role. Consequently, it seeks to implement an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to integrate its business processes. However, ERP system implementation is often complex and prone to failure. According to research by Dantes (2011), the success rate for ERP implementations is reported to be no higher than 50%. Additionally, a study by Deloitte, indicates that 57% of the obstacles encountered in ERP implementation are related to human factors. To address this, it is crucial to assess the readiness of the RIM unit for ERP implementation. This assessment helps to identify potential factors that might hinder the implementation from the outset. Following the readiness assessment, these obstacles should be addressed by developing a change management plan for the ERP system implementation. Thus, this research aims to evaluate the ERP implementation readiness and to design a change management plan for the ERP system in the RIM unit Telkom Corporate University. The readiness of the ERP system implementation is assessed using the McKinsey 7S model for ERP system readiness, as adapted by Hanafizadeh. This model evaluates seven dimensions: strategy, style, structure, staff, skills, and shared values. To align with the specific conditions of the RIM unit, the model has been modified by omitting irrelevant indicators. The values for these indicators were determined through interviews with RIM unit research manager and the distribution of questionnare to 61 staff and manager of RIM unit Telkom Corporate University. The assessment revealed a readiness score of 3.36 for the RIM unit in implementing the ERP system, which falls short of the ideal score of 4 defined in this study. Indicators within dimensions that did not meet the ideal condition serve as the basis for identifying areas of potential improvement. The identified potential improvements were aggregated, resulting in ten key areas for enhancement. These areas were then categorized using the ADKAR model (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement). For each aggregated potential xi improvement, a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) was developed. The WBS serves as the change management plan for the ERP system implementation in the RIM unit of Telkom Corporate University.
