INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/83328 Electric trains are considered an ideal solution to reduce the negative impacts of urban mobility due to their low emissions compared to other engine-based transportation such as motorcycles, cars, and buses. This is because electric trains have a large passenger capacity and use environmentally friendly energy sources. However, most of the electricity used is still sourced from fossil fuel-based power plants, so energy consumption efficiency is still a challenge. In addition, energy savings can also reduce the operational costs of electric trains. Therefore, this research focuses on optimizing the speed profile to minimize energy consumption on the Jabodebek LRT. The strategy implemented is energy-efficient driving through speed profile optimization. Simulations are conducted to model the train's movement between stations and produce outputs in the form of speed profiles, energy consumption, and travel time. This speed profile is optimized using a genetic algorithm to achieve low energy consumption without significantly altering travel time. The train travel simulation is conducted from Halim to Jatimulya, with six intermediate stations being simulated. Validation is performed by comparing the simulation results with the train journey data logger for each station interval, which includes energy consumption, travel time, and speed profiles. The simulation results show that the speed profile from the simulation closely matches the data logger with the highest travel time error percentage being 1.44% and the lowest being 0%. Energy consumption errors are highest at 11.14% and lowest at 2.84%. Overall, for the train journey from Halim to Jatimulya, the travel time error is 0.17% and energy consumption error is 6.73%. The optimization results for the journey from Halim to Jatimulya indicate an energy consumption saving of 19.11% compared to the simulation and 13.67% compared to the data logger. There is a small additional travel time consequence of 4.07 seconds compared to the simulation results and 2.07 seconds compared to the data logger. This optimization results in a smoother speed profile that adheres to speed limits with minimal additional travel time. Thus, this optimization is expected to contribute significantly to a more energy-efficient and effective operation of the LRT. text
