This implies that the Batak community carries a significant cultural heritage for Indonesia. Unfortunately, due to declining interest of younger generations in traditional customs—the narrative of family clans, known as "hikayat marga"—remains relatively unknown and underappreciated. As a Bataknese graphic designer, this design proposal suggests the preservation of Batak Toba's "hikayat marga" culture through an illustrated storybook. The design aims to create an anthology of stories about Batak Toba's "hikayat marga", using graphic design principles to preserve Batak culture. This design initiative seeks to broaden understanding, provide additional research sources, and serve as informational material for other researchers interested in Batak Toba's "hikayat marga". Throughout the process of designing this storybook, the author employs the design thinking method, encompassing stages such as empathizing, defining, ideating solutions, prototyping, and testing. The outcome is an illustrated anthology of stories about Batak’s "hikayat marga", presented with visuals that represent the Batak Toba culture. Through a composite of Batak’s gorga elements, Batak script elements, traditional folklore illustration style, and a layout that appeals to young adults, this book conveys sufficient information about Batak culture for the readers text
