Description
Summary:This final project explores the representation of human essence within the life cycle through the medium of leather and the method of pyrography drawing. Essence, understood as the fundamental nature or intrinsic characteristics of an object or living being, is the primary focus of this work. The inspiration for these works stems from the author's observations of natural phenomena such as decay and regeneration, as well as death rituals observed both directly and indirectly. The visualization of these observed experiences of essence is manifested through the pyrography technique on leather, resulting in six artworks that explore the relationship between life and death. The choice of the pyrography technique, which involves burning the surface to create images, was not only based on its technical capabilities but also on its symbolic value as a representation of life arising from death. Meanwhile, the use of leather as a medium was chosen for its natural strength and flexibility, symbolizing the paradoxical relationship between life and death. By adopting an allegorical visual approach, the author seeks to depict the essence inherent in every human being in the context of the relationship between life and death. Through this work, the author hopes to offer new perspectives and interpretations of death as an integral part of the life cycle.
