Description
Summary:Based on WHO epidemiological data from 2020, deafness is the fourth highest cause of disability globally. In Indonesia, more than 4.6% of the deaf population face difficulties in social adjustment due to communication limitations. The high incidence of hearing impairment is not matched by accessibility that is friendly to the deaf, both in terms of public infrastructure and the availability of sign language interpreters, which is still very limited. As a graphic designer, the goal of this design is to raise awareness and knowledge about Indonesian Sign Language (Bisindo) to improve accessibility for the deaf, especially in West Java. This design is targeted at teenagers aged 14-17 with a dynamic and engaging style. The data collection methods include literature studies, expert interviews, and questionnaires. The design was conducted in an interactive kit consisting of a book, cards, and a game board. This combination of media is expected to attract interest and facilitate the general public in learning Bisindo so that it can be used in daily communication with the deaf.
