Summary: | The Final Project concept raised by the author stems from her previous academic
experience in the field of pharmacy. During her education in pharmacy, the
author learned that food, especially fruits and vegetables, has an important role
to help human survival. Therefore, the author tries to connect it with the theme of
survival through this final project. The problem formulation used includes how the
issue of survival can be represented through drawing works and how the
construction of food can form symbolic meanings. In answering the problem
formulation, the artwork is then reinforced using several theories, namely Art as
Symbol Theory and Logotherapy Theory. The theory of art as a symbol is used to
read the whole of the combined food construction that forms the object of
representation of objects for survival. Then, Logotherapy Theory is used to give
the artist's subjective meaning resulting from personal interpretation of the
symbolic meaning of each element in the visual work. The results of the analysis
can be seen in six works. The first work represents the issue of survival using a
tent object constructed of food with vitamin C content. The second work uses a life
jacket composed of food structures with vitamin A and C content. Work two uses a
life jacket composed of food structures with vitamin A and C content. Work three
uses a war mask as a representation object composed of food structures such as
bell peppers, salak, melon, pomegranate, cabbage, tomato, pineapple, dragon
fruit, and onion. Work four uses a lifeboat as a representation of survival
composed of food structures in the form of salmon, tuna, tilapia, shrimp, squid,
and kerrang. Work five uses a hot air balloon as a representation of survival
constructed from the food of chicken, cabbage, string beans, blueberries,
mushrooms, salak, and pineapple. Finally, work six uses a fire extinguisher as a
representation of survival constructed from food in the form of cactus,
grasshoppers, buds, and bamboo. The object of survival representation and the
structure of the food that forms it then correlate in terms of the functions and
benefits of both. The correlation then becomes the author's interpretation. |
